Kangaroo Time with Mommy and Nicholas!!! |
I know I'm going to get in trouble for posting this picture, but I couldn't think of anything more precious than to wake up to this on my phone!!! This picture melted my heart and is a sign to me that things are going in the right direction!
Vince and I had some quality father son time yesterday as things seemed pretty consistent at the hospital, and I wanted to get some time with him! We had a good day and also went to see Mommy before bed. We had a sleepover in Mommy and Daddy's bed so he really enjoyed that, and I think he really needed that bonding time as much as I did!
My beautiful wife spent the night by herself in the hospital for the first time since the boys were born, and she got some quality time visiting both boys by herself, and being able to hold Nicholas again, and being able to be with Joseph. I'm sure she needed that considering she comes home tomorrow!
Joseph and Nicholas both had good nights last night, and hopefully will have another healthy day today! Nicholas will be having his EKG and Head ultrasounds today which is standard for premature babies. Babies born this early are more prone to bleeds in their brain which happens for no apparent reason, but of course can be serious. So we will pray that his ultrasound and EKG come back clean, and that Joseph continues to improve every hour.
I will hopefully be posting more pictures later today and will update everyone as new information becomes available!!!
UPDATE 8/14/2013 12:20 PM: Nicholas had his EKG this morning, no update on that yet, but Mommy got to see Joseph's little eyes open today!!! He is holding strong right now along with Nicholas, and no news right now is good news! We are overwhelmed by the love and support you all continue to give us and we know our little boys will one day appreciate the support they have received through this process!!!

UPDATE 8/14/2013 8:20 PM: Well I'm sorry that I do not have any more updates other than the fact that both boys had a great day today!!! To me that's a great update though! The boys continue to do well, and the nurses are really happy with their progressions this whole week, even after Monday's scare with Jr. Nicholas is definitely the chill one of the two, and Jr. is going to be the trouble maker!
We have made it through 3 1/2 days and Nicholas has been on the C-PAP since day 1, Joseph is trying to breathe on his own as well as with the ventilator, so they are really thinking he may come off the respirator soon depending on the outcome of his EKG tomorrow. Speaking of EKG's we didn't hear back from the Dr. on Nicholas' scan today, which we can only assume means that everything is normal, otherwise I'm sure we would have heard something by now. If anything changes there, I'll make sure you know!
I'm spending the night with my wife at the hospital while Vince has a sleepover with his cousins at Grandma's house. It's going to be our last night with the boys until they come home, and it will be a bittersweet feeling bringing my Wife home tomorrow, as I know this will be hard on her, but she is ready to be with her first born again, and get some quality time. I'm hoping that I get to hold Nicholas tonight, and if that happens I'm sure you'll be seeing the same picture as on the top of this page, only with a much uglier mug looking back at you and of course sweet little Nick!
Please continue to pray for our boys health and that they will grow strong and be able to come home as soon as possible! We love to read your comments on both Facebook and the blog and our so thankful to all of you! Goodnight from our family to yours!!!
