Nicholas had a good night according to the doctors, and is still on the C-PAP machine which is good as compared to the ventilator. In fact my Wife and I got to take Nicholas out of his incubator today and hold him!!! We even got to hear his little cries, which was probably the best sound given the current situation!

Joseph didn't have such a great night, and is still on his ventilator. The doctor explained to us that because of his enlarged heart the right ventricles that pump blood through the pulmonary artery to the lungs. Since the heart is enlarged it's not producing enough pressure or blood for the lungs, and Joseph is having a hard time oxygenating his lungs. There is good pressure in his aorta though, and there is a duct between those two arteries that closes during birth, so the doctors are trying to use medication to reopen that duct and get some blood into our little man's lungs. Of course they have to be careful not to send too much fluid in the lungs, so they're trying to find a good balance. So our little man can use some help from everyone, and all prayers and thoughts are appreciated! He's fighting right now and with the help of his doctors I pray that he will come out on top of this! Updates as we hear news!!!
Update on Joseph 2:05 PM 8/12/13 - We got some good news regarding Joseph, he is currently still on a ventilator but only on "room air" oxygen. It was as high as 90% today so we are pleased that the doctors interventions seem to be helping a the moment. We have long way to go of course, but any little piece of good information is more than welcome right now!!!
Update on the Boys 9:45 PM 8/12/13 - Joseph continues to be on room air with a ventilator and his platelets have increased from an infusion today. Nicholas is still looking good. We got to say goodnight to the boys and said a prayer that they have as good of a night as they did day. Good night to our precious babies!
